School Visits - Introduction

authorvisitIMG_7460[1]Are you interested in having me visit your school or library? Or perhaps you would like to have your students participate in an illustration workshop for the day?

Throughout the year, I travel across Canada speaking with school children and adults of all ages. I share my experiences in writing and illustrating for children’s books; I teach workshops and seminars on “How to illustrate a book”; and for the very young, I bring my stories to life with animated readings filled with dance and funny voices!

If you would like to book your school for a visit, check out our booking info.

Recent testimonials from my school visits:

  • “The children absolutely loved Dianna's presentations. She was professional with me and inspiring to the students. During subsequent lessons, I have had to put aside my teaching plan in order to read (again) one of Dianna's books!”

  • “Dianna’s visit to the KinderText series at Capilano U was impressive. With a large, mixed group composed of young two’s to five’s from the daycare, caregivers, faculty, and first year creative writing students, she guided us through a playful demonstration and presentation of her work, to an absorbing conversation about the finer points of her art, and did so with real aplomb. A total pro – we’ve already invited her back!”

  • “Your presentations surpassed all expectations when you visited our school. The information you covered and the illustrations you brought to share were inspiring! Your rapport with students came through as you adjusted the session appropriately for different grade levels. A superb day!”

    Craigflower Elementary School

  • “I loved the way you inspired our young artists and writers while explaining that sometimes it does take years to write a book! Thank you for autographing copies of our books from the library.”
