Gabriola Thanksgiving Art Tour 2009

Well it’s that time of year again for me and I’m busily preparing for the Gabriola Thanksgiving Art Tour. For those that have never ventured over this way for our studio open house weekend rest assured, you ARE missing something! It’s a fabulous weekend when most of the artist’s on Gabriola Island open up their studios for three days for guests to visit and watch them work. It’s a fun weekend and a busy weekend and most of us spend weeks prior to the event just working and preparing for the big day!

This year I have been working on smaller pieces using some new techniques I have been excited to try. After working on books for most of my time I often like to venture out into new territory. This year I have a small series of fish in the works which are approx. 6 x 6 in size and are just simply fun and colourful. I have yet to decide whether I am going to name them or not…sometimes that is just how I work…by the seat of my pants.  It may be a decision I make at the eleventh hour or right before I open my doors on the morning of October 10th.  Whatever I decide, I will have some fresh new work for my customers to see. Additionally, I will have originals from my newest book “The West is Calling” as well as copies of the book which I will be signing at my studio. On top of all that, I will also have some sketches from a book I am currently working on called “Polly Parrot’s Pirate Poems”and will be working on a new painting while people tour my studio.

It should be an exciting weekend and I hope to see you there!

Mark it on your calendars! October 10-12 10am-4pm, Dianna Bonder Studios, 948 Canso Road, Gabriola Island
