A must for every library….take it from me

What makes a great children’s book? Well….great illustration for one! I am a big fan of Derek Anderson’s (www.derekanderson.net) BallyhooCov(pb)¬†illustrations from the Little Quack series and one of his newest books titled Ballyhoo Bay. This book is written by Judy Sierra and is a wonderful story about an artist named Mirella who teaches art on the beach to tourists and sea creatures alike. It isn’t until the evil city planners try to erect buildings on her beach that Mirella takes action. Exceptionally written in rhyme and beautifully illustrated , this is now one of my all time favourites in my enormous library of children’s books. An A++ read.

My Favourite Pirate Book

My favourite pirate book to date is David Shannon’s “Pirates Don’t Change Diapers”. It’s not only¬†beautifully illustrated by Mr. Shannon but the story is one that will make you giggle over again. It’s fitting that with my new book underway “Polly Parrot Pirate Poems” that I would now have a bookshelf full of pirate books!
