Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

A BIG thank you to Gabriola Elementary for inviting me to take part in their grade 6/7 writing program, led by children’s author Joelle Anthony and teacher, Miss Peacock. The group was enthusiastic and had developed some really interesting story ideas….from novels to graphic novels and even picture books….it was so nice to see the range of ideas. I look forward to hearing from all the great book ideas at their book launch in March!

My day at Rogers Elementary School

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013

What a great day I had at Rogers Elementary School. Such a great group of students and the teachers were fantastic. Travis Richey, the librarian did a wonderful job in organizing and making sure the students were well prepared for my visit. It’s librarians like Travis that make my job so easy and enjoyable. Thank you Rogers Elementary for a great day and thank you for making me feel like a Rock Star!!

Beaty Museum….rain or shine?

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

Just had a visit to the amazing Beaty Museum at UBC today and wow, what a place! I was there to speak on a panel with fellow CWILL members about bringing science to children (childrens literature spcifically) From the moment you walk in you are greeted with the amazing blue whale skeleton which was dug up by scientists on a beach in PEI. It certainly was a tough act to follow however, I did get to share my work and talk about science in my illustrations…which was really a pleasure considering I never thought in a million (no…make that trillion) years that I would ever be discussing my work among scientists. Quite inspiring. Now I am on my way back to Gabriola Island amid torrential rains and fog….but alls in a days work and how often does one get to walk beside a blue whale skeleton! Wow!!!!!

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

I am so excited to have a new show starting this week on the Lower Mainland.  The Lions Bay Art Gallery is now showing “Birds without a Cause”. I am thrilled to be part of the Lions Bay Gallery alongside noted artist Michael Tickner. Check out some of my newest pieces  on their website:    http://www.lionsbayartgallery.com/dianna.html or take a quick, scenic trip to the gallery.  Lions Bay Art Gallery is nestled in the little Village Centre of Lions Bay, only half an hour from downtown Vancouver, north of Horseshoe by about seven minutes.  Chick it out!
