It’s my very first visit to the Stanley A Milner library in downtown Edmonton! Just a short walk from my condo, I was thrilled to see the library was busy preparing for the big launch tomorrow night! A great display as we entered into the children’s section and a warm welcome from each of the librarians! I can’t wait for my residency to begin! It’s Official! I have been chosen for the Joanne Fitzgerld Illustrator in Residnce Program 2016!

Monday, October 10th, 2016

I am so thrilled to announce that I have been chosen this year for the Joanne Fitzgerald Illustrator in Residence Program at the Edmonton Public Library, Stanley A. MIlner branch. From October 17th to November 10th, I will be at the downtown branch teaching workshops and classes to elementary schools, workshops with adults, one on one portfolio reviews as well as a few outside appearances at Nina Haggerty and surrounding high schools.

The Joanne Fitzgerald Illustrator in Residence Program was developed through the assistance of Joanne’s family and IBBY Canada and each year, a Canadian Children’s Illustrator is selected to share their work and ideas with children in a central library environment. For the past three years the program has been offered in Toronto however, this will be the very first year that Edmonton has hosted this program

I will be travelling to Edmonton by car with my two daughters and a whole lot of stuff. We hit the road this Thursday and plan to take a leisurely drive through the Rockies and arrive by Saturday. I plan to keep a blog of my travels right here for those that might be interested as well as on Facebook. Each day there will be something new to report and to see! I can’t wait to meet all you Edmontonians and to share my passion for books and illustration with you!

See you all soon!

Children’s Ilustration Program a hit at the Hive!

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

So this spring break I decided to teach a four day illustration program to a group of Gabriola kids called “Re-inventing the Classics”. The program was packed with 15 students all interested in learning how to create illustrations for picture books. But this class had a twist and the kids were asked to “re-invent” a classic illustration from their favourite picture book. Some chose Dr. Suess and others chose classics which were more personal to them. The end result was a brilliant show at the Hive Emporium located in the heart of Gabriola Island. The kids had a blast and so did I!! Many pieces sold and the reception and feedback was so positive and uplifting. I was so so proud to be a part of such an amazing program and helping some budding young artists participate in their first ever art show! Way to go you guys!!

New Commissioned Works!

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

What a busy fall season it has been! 6 months of painting on a new series of 5 original paintings! The project was commissioned by a customer of mine to outfit their entire living room with Dianna Bonder originals! What an incredible opportunity to create work that really spoke to me. I really can’t say enough about the process. A ton of long days and nights but what a cool thing for me to be able to do. In the end, I developed 5 original pieces which we happily hung in early October. Here is a little peak into their new home. Should you want to inquire about commission work please contact me directly at . I would be happy to give you my schedule and provide a quote for you.
